Drones – An invaluable project management tool but also a risk, and Wessex branch AGM

Holiday Inn Fareham - Solent, Cartwright Drive, Titchfield, Fareham PO15 5RJ

With advances in technology and high levels of competition between the top manufacturers, drones have become more affordable which has served to increase and make more accessible their commercial and industrial applications.

UAVs, sUAS, RPAS, multicopters, drones. Their name is almost as varied as their uses. Once only conjuring up images of military surveillance and perhaps, with the success of a well-spun marketing ploy, pizza delivery, their wider variety of applications has entered the public consciousness to a greater degree as their presence approaches the level of the ubiquitous. Most recently however, the threat that they could pose to security has become more apparent.

This presentation is an introduction to the use of drones as a resource within projects. Covering:

  • Current drone technology and capability
  • Legislation and key facts
  • Drone operator qualification PfCO
  • The benefits of Drone Technology for Project Managers
  • Considered threats
  • Q&A
