Hannah BardellHannah Bardell

Hannah was born and raised in Craigshill, Livingston, and attended Broxburn Academy. A graduate of the University of Stirling, she began her career in commercial television at STV in Glasgow and GMTV in London in Children’s TV then as the Assistant Producer on their political show, ‘The Sunday Programme.’

In 2007 Hannah began working for the SNP in roles including Constituency Manager to Alex Salmond before taking up a position with the US State Department in the Edinburgh Consulate, managing protocol, events and press.

For the three years preceding her election, Hannah worked in the oil, gas & energy industry, initially with Subsea 7, and then as Head of Communications and Marketing for the UK, Africa and Norway with oil and gas service company, Stork.

Hannah was elected in the 2015 UK general election, and re-elected in the 2017 and 2019, to represent Livingston. Hannah held a number of front bench roles including, Business spokesperson, Digital, Culture, Media and Sport was also the latterly as the Spokesperson for Consular Affairs and International Engagement. During her time in Parliament Hannah co-founded the women’s parliamentary football team (including having a wee kickabout in Parliament)  founded and Chaired the APPG on Deaths Abroad, Consular Service and Assistance and fought on a range of equality and Human Rights issues. She has been a member of the panel of chairs for 5 years chairing debates and legislative committees in Parliament and Hannah has also been a member of the Council of Europe and sat on the Human Rights and Legal Affairs committee for the last 6 years. 

Following the general election Hannah is starting a new career in business consultancy, public speaking and political punditry. 

In her spare time, she enjoys surfing, playing football, the theatre, playing guitar and the occasional karaoke session. Hannah is enthusiastic about the Scottish outdoors and spends her summers in Arisaig in Scotland’s west highlands.
