John Mackie / Chris Bennett
John Mackie has had a long and successful career in technology as an outsourcing and business transformation executive. For 18 years John worked for the Metropolitan Police Service in a variety of technology roles. In 1998 John joined Morgan Chambers, at the time Europe’s leading outsourcing consultancy. Through acquisition John joined Equaterra in 2007, and KPMG in 2011. During his time in consultancy John built a strong track record of success advising numerous clients across many industry sectors across the full sourcing lifecycle including delivering sourcing strategies, supplier selection, due diligence, contractual and commercial negotiations and deal assurance.
John left advisory in 2013 to join Royal Mail as the Programme Director of the IT Service Transformation Programme. In 2016, upon completion of the Programme John took the role of Head of Technology Supplier Management, where he leads a team that manages over 200 third party relationships and an annual spend in excess of £300m.
Chris Bennett has over 35 years’ experience in the IT Industry successfully developing and delivering effective IT strategies through clear leadership and a desire to inspire people. Delivery is coupled with a first class change management capability grown through the creation of new IT services, major business reorganisations and the continuous exploitation of new technology whilst ensuring overall value delivery from IT.
Chris focussed his career in a number of major manufacturing companies in the 1980’s and 90’s where his roles were based on delivering increased automation through control systems. The companies included Akzo Nobel , Courtaulds and Celanese. He went on to create an autonomous IT outsourcing business alongside a large scale corporate service which delivered best in class operational costs and shared best practice with new customers across a wide range of markets.
In 2008 he joined Royal Mail to drive the commercial engagement with a major supplier and then moved on to direct the Service Delivery and Infrastructure services with a run budget of £250m. A core part of the Royal Mail Technology Strategy was to identify and deliver a new supply chain that could offer a more flexible delivery model coupled with better value for money and between 2015 and 2016 he provided Execution Direction for the IT Service Transformation Programme.
