Public Sector Organisation of the Year Award

The winner of this category has now been announced. Congratulations to all our finalists in this category.

Open to all government and public sector organisations across the globe committed to excellence in project delivery and outcomes.

There are four organisational award categories, representing different types of organisations. The Public Sector Organisation category is for government and public sector organisations that have delivered outstanding projects, programmes or portfolios. Judges are looking for organisations who stand out by delivering project excellence in delivery and outcomes.

We require entrants to all organisational award categories to produce a submission of 1,500–2,500 words (in English) based on the judging criteria. Entrants may also submit up to four supporting images or graphics only (no text apart from captions). Video and audio is not accepted as part of the submission.

The organisational award categories all one written stage only and are open to organisations across all sectors globally.

Congratulations to our Winner

Winner  Essex County Council

Essex County Council (ECC) is one of the largest local authorities in England. The range of transformation projects in the Council is vast, from implementing innovative solutions for supporting vulnerable individuals, to procuring contracts to effectively recycle household waste.

Our project management maturity is among the most advanced in local government, and we are honoured to have offered advice and support to other local authorities. We are far from complacent; the challenges facing the county and nation alike are increasing. We are determined to continually innovate and improve to ensure success in the next phase of our journey of transformation.

Finalist  Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S)

Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) as a public sector entity, equips and supports the UK armed forces today and for the future, managing an annual programme of work worth ~£11 billion, employing circa 12,000 people. Over the last five years we have awarded 4,500 contracts worth £47 billion, which supports over 88,000 jobs.

DE&S, as well as delivering extraordinarily complex programmes, also reacts with agility and pace to new and emerging priorities. We always proudly strive to innovate and adapt to ensure taxpayer maximum benefit, a capable UK military, inspired individuals, and a great place to work with great delivery.

Finalist  HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC)

HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) is the UK’s tax, payments, and customs authority. We have a vital purpose: we collect the money that pays for the UK’s public services and helps families, individuals, and businesses with targeted financial support, through tax credits, cost of living payments and the COVID schemes.

Our Project Delivery Professionals play an essential role in delivering the transformational change needed to achieve the future shape of HMRC. Our vision is for HMRC’s Project Delivery function to be the best profession in government and the best place to work in Project Delivery in the UK.

Finalist  Infrastructure and Projects Authority

The Infrastructure and Projects Authority (IPA) is the government’s centre of expertise for infrastructure and major projects. We lead the government project delivery (PD) function and sit at the heart of government.

Our vision is to be recognised for nothing less than world-class delivery. The vision of continuous improvement remains at the heart of what we do and how we work, as a team, as a function and as a profession.
