Celebrating International Project Management Day with AECOM
To celebrate International Project Management Day 2025, APM and AECOM Manchester are collaborating to showcase projects both across the North West and internationally, with a focus on the project management skills, techniques and competencies of such projects. This event was hosted by the North West Network on 6 November 2025.
Enjoy local project presentations, keynote speakers and a North West briefing from APM CEO Adam Boddison.
This event was a chance to learn from real projects happening in the North West and around the world. You heard how teams manage work, solve problems, and deliver results. With talks from experienced professionals and an IPMD focused session from APM CEO Adam Boddison, you ge=ot useful updates and practical ideas. It was also a good place to meet others in the field, share experiences, and build your network

Speakers -
Professor Adam Boddison, Chief Executive Officer, Association for Project Management
Adam joined APM as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in September 2021 having formally held CEO and senior executive roles in multiple educational organisations.
Beyond APM, Adam has a portfolio of consultancy and volunteering supporting organisations and initiatives that benefit society.
Adam is a visiting Professor at the Stranmills University College and the University of Leicester (School of Business). He has authored several books and is a qualified clinical hypnotherapist.
In 2022, Adam was awarded the OBE for services to children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.
Alex Tillett , Associate, Project Management, UK&I, AECOM
Alex is an accomplished Project Manager with over 18 years of experience delivering complex engineering and infrastructure projects across the marine, civil, mechanical, and electrical sectors. A specialist in the NEC4 Engineering and Construction Contract (ECC), he leverages its philosophy to drive clarity, successful project outcomes, and full lifecycle delivery. Currently serving as an Associate Project Manager within AECOM’s Infrastructure Project Management team, Alex brings a versatile skill set shaped by cross-sector expertise and a deep understanding of stakeholder engagement within large, matrixed organisations.
Steve Webb RIBA, RIAS, ARB, Director of Design Management UK&I, AECOM
Steve leads AECOM’s specialist design management team in the UK & Ireland, managing multi-disciplinary design teams in the delivery of large scale, complex projects both in the UK and Internationally. Steve has been with AECOM since 2014 and is a qualified architect with over 30 years experience in the construction industry, throughout this time he has had the opportunity to work across a range of sectors including masterplanning, transportation, commercial office, mixed use, education, residential, healthcare, custodial, defence and leisure/sports projects.
In recent years Steve has led a number of major international projects and has particular experience in the challenges of managing design across geographies to successfully deliver our client’s vision on time and on budget.
Helen Patel , Assistant, Project Management, UK&I, AECOM
Helen is an Assistant Project Manager at AECOM with an MSc in Project Management in Construction from the University of Salford. Helen has contributed to high-impact projects including work with the Environment Agency and the Great Grid Partnership, where she demonstrated her ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments and deliver value through structured project methodologies. Her presentation at the Flood and Coast conference showcased her insights on the critical role of professional bodies and the power of cross-sector collaboration in delivering resilient infrastructure.
