Richard Preston is stepping down from his volunteer role with the Association for Project Management (APM) North West Network after many years of dedicated service and meaningful contribution to the region’s volunteer community.

Richard has made a significant and lasting contribution to the Association for Project Management (APM) North West Network. A dedicated and influential volunteer, Richard began his journey as a committee member before serving as Chair from 2020 to 2024, where he helped shape the network’s leadership, governance and future direction.

During his time as Chair, Richard led with clarity and purpose. He created a supportive environment that encouraged volunteers to share their skills, experience and ideas, strengthening both the committee and the wider volunteer community.

Richard played a key role in delivering many North West events, including local meet-ups that brought project professionals together to connect, learn and develop. He also served as a judge for the region’s inaugural Project Management Challenge in 2024, championing the programme and helping emerging talent build confidence and capability.

As a trusted point of contact for the region, Richard represented the North West Network with professionalism and commitment. He responded to external enquiries, collaborated closely with fellow volunteers and APM staff, and helped raise the network’s profile across the region.

Speaking about Richard’s time as a volunteer, Neil Horner, North West Network Lead shared

Richard has been a core member of the North West Committee and then Network and deeply appreciated for his genuine investment in the network's activities, community and profession. Richard will remain a long-term friend and source of wisdom for us all.”

Richard’s dedication over many years has left an enduring legacy within the North West Network. We’re extremely grateful for his leadership, time and support, and we wish him every success in the next chapter.
