Which APM AI certificate is right for me?
APM offers two AI certificates:
APM Certificate in AI Awareness for Project Professionals
APM Certificate in Working with AI in Project Teams
The AI Awareness certificate is introductory and is suitable for those looking to develop their understanding of AI in a project context.
The Working with AI certificate is aimed at project professionals and requires knowledge of working within a project team and an understanding of project terminology.
Review the relevant certificate handbook and syllabus to decide which certificate best matches your knowledge, experience and development needs.
Do I have to start with the Project Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ)?
No. APM qualifications offer structured progression, but you don't have to start with PFQ. Choose the qualification that's appropriate for your existing knowledge, experience and development needs.
Do I need to take the AI Awareness certificate before Working with AI in Project Teams?
No. You don't need to complete the APM Certificate in AI Awareness for Project Professionals before taking the APM Certificate in Working with AI in Project Teams.
The certificates offer structured progression, but you should start at the level that's appropriate to your knowledge, experience and needs.
Are there any prerequisites for taking an APM AI certificate?
You don't need any formal qualifications to take either AI certificate.

You must be at least 18 years old to take an APM certificate or qualification.
How do I know if I'm at the right level for an APM qualification or certificate?
Review the relevant syllabus and handbook to understand the knowledge covered and expected level.
Sample examination papers and study resources can also help you understand what to expect and assess whether you're ready to take the examination.
What is the Project Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ) pass mark?
The PFQ pass mark is 36 out of 60, or 60%.
The pass mark may change on the recommendation of the Examinations Technical Assurance Group during the lifetime of the qualification.
Understanding the AI certificates

No. Both AI certificates are tool-agnostic and aren't aligned to a specific AI product or platform.
Review the syllabus in the relevant certificate handbook for details of the knowledge covered.
Are the AI certificates aligned to the SCQF or APM Competence Framework?
No. Neither AI certificate is levelled according to the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) or aligned to the APM Competence Framework. The syllabi and supporting resources have been developed specifically for the certificates.
The APM Certificate in AI Awareness for Project Professionals is an introductory certificate and is broadly comparable in level to the APM Project Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ).
The APM Certificate in Working with AI in Project Teams requires knowledge of working in a project team and project terminology, so is more closely aligned in level to the APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ).

APM will email confirmation of your result within two weeks. You'll receive a pass or fail result and your score.

- an email from Credly inviting you to claim your digital badge
If you studied through an APM Accredited Training Provider, they'll also be notified of your result.
Results can't be provided over the telephone.
Will I receive a digital badge if I pass?
Yes. If you're successful, you'll receive an email from Credly inviting you to claim your digital badge, as well as your PDF certificate.
Check your spam or junk folder if you don't receive the email, as email or firewall settings may prevent it from reaching your inbox.
Does my AI certificate expire or need to be revalidated?
No. Once you've successfully achieved an APM AI certificate, it doesn't expire or require revalidation.
What happens if the AI certificate syllabus changes?
APM may periodically update its qualification and certificate syllabi.

If you've already achieved your AI certificate, a later syllabus change won't affect the status of your certificate.
