Robert Carter

 

Bob Carter has more than 30 years experience in high technology and service business.

He has developed capture strategies and led new business capture teams to over £4.0Bn of business across public and private sectors.  His experience covers the full spectrum of business development from pre-qualification, through bidding and into contract negotiation and transition. His particular strength is in transformation and in creating and leading world class BD and bid teams who expect to win.

 During a ten year spell in the USA, Bob led Raytheon’s Six Sigma efforts for Innovation and Growth before joining Vertex in 2007 as their Director of Transformation. 

Having taken time off in 2009 to write and publish two books, he came back into corporate life, initially as an interim Bid Director before joining Serco in the summer of 2010 as Director of Sales Operations, winning 100% of rebids and 74% of competitive new bids while in post.

Bob has been with Babcock since the summer of 2012, with several roles that have called on his experience and knowledge around bid leadership, acquisition and transformation. He is currently working on secondment into the MOD as the Head of Transformation for UKMFTS.

 Bob has a MBA with Distinction from the University of Hertford in the UK.

 Other awards include; a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, the Raytheon ‘CEO Award For Customer Relationships’ in 2004, and the UK Ministry of Defence ‘Chief of Defence Logistics Award’ for Partnerships in 2005.
