Synopsis: FutuRisktics: Innovation in Project Management - Field Based Planning

The presentation will explore innovation using geographically based information systems and a bespoke planning application (Field Based Planning) to facilitate efficient time and cost forecasting. The Field Based Planning is a bespoke application developed on HS2 EWC Central section to identify scope, constraints and risks at field level on the project. Changing the traditional way of planning to a detailed understanding of scope and constraints is vital. The challenge on HS2 is the scale of the project, a programme with 4000 layers of information, 4500 fields and 300 activities per field require a fresh approach to risk management. Ultimately, making better decisions to achieve the project objectives.
