Kate Howes brings over 20 years of experience in the education sector, spanning Further and Higher Education, curriculum leadership, academic quality assurance, and regulatory compliance. 

After completing Master’s degrees in History of Art and English Literature, Kate began her career in the arts before embarking on a global career in the travel industry.  Having witnessed both the positive and the negative impacts of the sector, she completed an MSc In Sustainable Tourism Management and is strongly committed to all aspects of sustainability. 

Her career in education has included senior management roles across multiple institutions. As Head of Higher Education at a large UK college, she was responsible for the strategic direction, development, and quality assurance of a 500-student HE provision across seven subject areas, working in partnership with five universities. She has also designed and delivered degree modules in Business Ethics, Sustainability, and Project Management for apprentices and undergraduates. 

Since July 2023, Kate has served as Head of Quality at London Metropolitan College, where she oversees institutional quality strategy and continuous improvement. She leads on regulatory compliance with the Office for Students and Ofsted, coordinates curriculum development, manages HEI partnerships, and drives student-centred quality enhancement initiatives. Her work ensures that LMC’s degree apprenticeship provision remains rigorous, inclusive, and future-focused. 

Kate is passionate about research, analysis, and strategic thinking, with a flair for creative problem-solving and policy development. She particularly values working alongside a dynamic and diverse team committed to making a meaningful impact in education.
