Frequently asked questions

Why should my employer fund my APM qualifications or chartership?

APM qualifications and chartership supports your professional development and enhances project management capability across your organisation. It also demonstrates a commitment to recognised standards, reducing risk and improving project outcomes across the board.

How does payment work?

Employer funded payments are typically made via card or expenses reimbursement. The funding request letters include suggested wording.

Do I have to start with the APM Project Fundamentals Qualification?

No, the qualifications offer structured progression, however, you should start at a level appropriate to your needs and experience.

Can I pay for my chartership in monthly instalments?

We do not currently accept chartership payments in instalments, although you are welcome to set up an annual direct debit to cover your annual renewal. If you are struggling to pay your chartership fees, contact our team and we will be happy to discuss available options.

How long does chartership last?

Chartership is annual and can be renewed each year. You will receive reminders before your renewal date.

What if my employer stops funding chartership?

Chartership remains with you on an annual basis - from payment to renewal. If your employer ceases to fund your chartership upon renewal, you can renew on a self-funded basis.

How do I maintain chartership?

To maintain your chartered status, you’re obliged to complete 35 hours of continuing professional development (CPD) annually, which we may audit at any time and are required to pay an annual renewal fee.

How do I re-instate my chartership if I let it lapse?

Should you lapse your status, you have a two-month grace period to submit your CPD log and re-activate before being required to fulfil the chartered process again via pathway 4.
