APM celebrates its third Investing in Volunteers (IiV) Standard
Association for Project Management (APM) is pleased to announce that it has successfully renewed its Investing in Volunteers Quality Standard for a further three years, in recognition of the excellent work carried out with volunteers.
Investing in Volunteers (IiV) is the UK quality standard for excellence in volunteer management.
The IiV Standard renewal has been awarded to APM following an assessment against a range of good practice standards, which showed that APM excelled in all aspects of working with its volunteers. The Standard outlines the six quality areas which an organisation must work towards to achieve the award including:
- Vision for volunteering
- Planning for volunteers
- Volunteer inclusion
- Recruiting and welcoming volunteers
- Supporting volunteers
- Valuing and developing volunteers
APM relies on the expertise and commitment of its volunteer community for the development and promotion of project and programme management. This includes the effective delivery of many wide-ranging activities including events, mentoring, publications and resources. Volunteers play a vital role in APM’s Regional and Interest Networks, and other volunteer communities. APM currently has over 1,100 volunteers supporting activities across the organisation in the UK and internationally.
APM recently hosted its Volunteer Achievement Awards, which recognise and reward the invaluable contribution that volunteers make to the success of the organisation and wider profession. Categories this year included APM Interest Network of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, Volunteer Event of the Year, Regional Network of the Year, Education Volunteer of the Year and Special Achievement. This year saw APM’s International Space Sector Interest Network scoop the Interest Network of the Year. Martina Blake, the Network’s and Lead, also won Volunteer of the Year.
APM has more than 1,100 volunteers.
APM’s Senior Volunteering Manager, Sarah Slater, said: "We are delighted to have had our Investing in Volunteers award renewed for another three years. A tremendous amount of work is carried out by volunteers at APM across the UK and internationally, and so much of what we do would not be possible without them. This award is a real reflection of our commitment to ensuring volunteers have the best experience possible in the work they do."
Investing in Volunteers is owned by the lead volunteer development agencies in each respective country of the UK (UK Volunteering Forum – UKVF): Volunteer Scotland in Scotland, WCVA in Wales, NCVO in England and Volunteer Now in Northern Ireland.
