New Frontiers

APM Project Management Conference 2014This year the APM Conference will be looking forward to New Frontiers. Change is changing; project management is a profession for the 21st Century. It embraces the speed of change and innovation now possible in our connected, global, technologically advanced age. In 2012, the APM Project Management Conference celebrated the Art of the Possible; the delivery of a London Olympics, commercial space flight, a seamless transition to the age of digital television, and social regeneration in deprived neighbourhoods.

Last year, the conference built on these successes and challenged the profession to Adapt. Psychologist Professor Richard Wiseman challenged delegates to adapt the way they think and believe that success, all success, is within our grasp. Tim Harford, the Undercover Economist, dissected the concept of innovation, illustrating if we adapt our response to innovative thinking, we can change the world.

In 2014, the APM Project Management Conference will continue its journey and travel to the new frontiers of the profession new projects, new people, new techniques. Project management success is all around us, but the opportunities for change continue to grow and push the boundaries of what is possible. New Frontiers aims to change your perception of what can be achieved through project management by showcasing projects, people, and innovative practices from around world.

The all-day event will be chaired by Mary McKinlay, taking over from Professor Darren Dalcher. Mary, who has worked in project management for over 30 years, started her career with GEC-Marconi working on the Tornado aircraft project. She subsequently worked on many large programmes with Alenia Marconi and BAE Systems until she started her own business in 2006.
