Building and Construction Industry represents a significant portion of the economic growth and GDP for Hong Kong SAR. Adoption of Information Technology solutions, Big Data solutions and modern technologies are becoming increasingly important for Small to Medium Enterprises in Hong Kong’s building and construction industry. This webinar was held on 21 April 2023.

With the changing landscape of construction industry in Hong Kong that requires to embrace the use of innovation and technologies, project management for Construction Industry stakeholders are facing the increasing needs and challenges to adopt examine, evaluate and suitably adopt different types of technologies to suit their project requirements or site contexts.

The latest development of Artificial Intelligence, including the hot issue in the global arena of ChatGPT gives many potential opportunities and challenges to project managers in the building and construction industry in Hong Kong and Asia Pacific.

This webinar explored from the APM Knowledge base and Core Competence how to unlock these potential benefits of these IT or Big Data Solutions effectively in project delivery.

The CPD Talk also covered some research and case study highlights that discusses upon the use of “Con Tech” in Israel for future reference.

Speaker: Dr Wilson Lam

Wilson Lam is a registered architect, authorised person and project manager with 25 years experiences in both public and private sector. He served in the Committee of Association for Project Management (HK Branch and then Greater Bay Area Branch) since 2018. He is knowledgeable and accredited as arbitrator, adjudicator, mediator and expert witness. He is the Council Member of the Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators for the terms 2013-2016 and 2017-2023 and is the Chairman of Construction & Adjudication Committee. He is also the Hon. Secretary and Director of the Hong Kong Mediation Council Limited (since October 2022) and the Chairman of the Contract and Dispute Resolution Committee of the Hong Kong Institute of Architects (2019 – 2021). He has been conferred as Adjunct Professor in Alternative Dispute Resolution by SABI University of France since 2020. He also serves as the Chairman of Hong Kong Adjudication Centre since 2021 and Adjunct Professor of the Yuenpei Business School of Peking University on Project Management (2020 – 2023). He had completed the Post-Doctoral Fellow Research at the California State University and had acted as a Visiting Scholar for California State University, Stanford University and University of California, Berkeley in 2021.

He was accredited as Member of Association for Project Management since 2000. He possesses experiences in IT-related projects since 2007 in HKSAR Government. He is a Project Management Professional, certified Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Expert, ITIL 4 Digital & IT Leader, Certified Blockchain Architect, APMG Agile Practitioner, Certified Big Data Professional and Consultant, Certified SAFe 5 Scrum Master and Certified SAFe 5 Agilist as well as a Construction Industry Council Certified BIM Manager.
