Save for later

Posted by APM on 22nd Mar 2016

The former London deputy mayor for transport, Isabel Dedring and leadership expert Rob Coulthard will share their experiences of what it takes to be a world class project professional at the multi-award winning APM Conference on 21 April at Kings Place, sponsored by 20|20 Business Insight.

Isabel Dedring, global transport leader at Arup and former London deputy mayor for transport at the Greater London Authority (GLA), will talk about the positive impact professional project managers can have on the economy.

During her time working for the Mayor’s office Isabel's helped deliver new infrastructure projects, including Transport for London's (TfL) first ‘growth fund’ designed to stimulate housing and jobs growth in London. Isabel also led on the Mayor's 2050 Infrastructure Plan for London.

Other notable initiatives include the creation of TfL's £4bn roads modernisation programme and upgrades to London Underground, resulting in a 30 per cent performance improvement. She was also heavily involved in defining and delivering London's new air quality and cycling initiatives.

The question of what makes a world class professional will be covered by Rob Coulthard, managing director at Judgement Index UK Ltd.

Sharing his experiences of analysing and developing elite sports men and women, Rob will look for similarities in mind-set, emotions and behaviour in top-performing project managers.

He will ask: Do elite project and sports folk share similar attributes, can they be measured and what can we learn and replicate from this if our quest is performance excellence?

He will also look at broader topics such as leadership, team cohesion, engagement, coping with failure and success.

This year’s conference will explore how you, your organisation and our profession can transform into being recognised as World Class.
