The project profession is well represented in the King’s Birthday Honours List – the annual list of people being recognised by the British Monarch for their achievements or service to the country.

Nick Smallwood CBEAmong those receiving an Honour are Nick Smallwood, former CEO of the Infrastructure and Projects Authority (IPA), who has been awarded a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for Services to Infrastructure and Project Delivery.

During his tenure as IPA Chief Executive, Nick Smallwood (pictured) led the transformation of the Government Project Delivery Function, and introduced professional accreditation and training programmes to enhance project delivery expertise across government.

APM Fellow Gareth Stapleton, Founder and Partner at RiSE International, was also awarded an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for Services to Architecture and to Project and Construction Management.

Others on the Honours List with links to the profession include:

  • Stephen Dance, Director at the National Infrastructure and Service Transformation Authority (NISTA), awarded an OBE for Services to Major Infrastructure Project Delivery
  • Sophie Maxwell, Founder and Director of the Really NEET Project, awarded a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) for Services to Young People.
  •            Anthony Fletcher, Project Delivery Director, Property Directorate, Ministry of Justic, awarded an OBE for Public Service
  • Maxine Campbell – Downer, Campaigner and Senior Project Manager, Kinship, awarded an MBE for services to Kinship Care and to Advocating for and Supporting Families
  • Martin Glasspool - Senior Project Adviser, Government Office for Science, awarded an MBE for services to Science in Government
  • Dr Stephen Wallace, Chair, Sherwood Observatory and Project Manager, Science Discovery Centre and Planetarium, awarded an MBE for services to the community in Ashfield
  • Robert Deaville, Project Manager for the Cetacean Strandings Investigation Programme, Zoological Society of London, awarded a Medal of the Order of the British Empire (BEM) for services to Marine Species Conservation

          As the chartered membership organisation for the project profession, Association for Project Management offers its congratulations to all whose contributions and achievements have been recognised.
