Swindon chapter workshop leverages knowledge and experience
Posted by APM on 24th Jul 2014
WRc plc hosted Swindon chapter's fascinating workshop which allowed those present to share experience and solutions to big issues the project managers regularly struggle with. The purpose of the workshop was to help shape the future events programmes in Thames Valley.
Attendees formed a cross-section of project managers, from different sectors, with varying levels of experience. They were encouraged by the facilitators to share their experiences and issues and help each other explore alternative approaches or methods which might be useful in overcoming problems. This workshop approach was popular and proved effective.
Participants felt that the workshop format where experiences were shared, rather than having a single speaker, would be a good addition to the branch event programme, promoting networking and discussion at a local level. Topics raised included managing changing timelines, team communication, and effective matrix management. As well as these, suggestions for future events included the provision of tailored company project leadership versus off the shelf training and the benefits and limitations of each.
Thames Valley branch would like to hear from you if you have any ideas for events, or if you would like to host a workshop session. Please contact us if you would like to discuss.
