APM shares accessibility expertise at global associations congress
Association for Project Management (APM) has been making the case for inclusive events on an international stage through a session at this year's Associations World Congress in Lagoa, Portugal.

Manuela Impellizzeri Kemp (pictured, left), Head of Events and Volunteer Engagement for APM, delivered the session, which took place at the Associations World Congress in Lagoa, Algarve. The event, organised by the Association of Association Executives and now in its 13th year, brings together delegates, leaders, directors and senior professionals from across the world.
As the chartered membership organisation for the project profession with over 40,000 members, 450 corporate partners and 1,400 volunteers, APM was able to share its expertise on delivering events which are welcoming, inclusive and accessible to all. Manuela presented APM's accessibility work as a case study; the practical measures introduced, the lessons absorbed and the acknowledgement that the work is ongoing.
Manuela Impellizzeri Kemp, APM's Head of Events and Volunteer Engagement, said: "It was a valuable opportunity to connect with colleagues from membership organisations across the world, exchange ideas and learn from their experiences.

"I shared some of the progress we've made in making APM's events more inclusive and accessible — a journey that has been incredibly important to our team. It was encouraging to see strong interest from fellow delegates, alongside a shared recognition that there is always more we can do.
"A special thank you goes to Paula Cunningham, our Events Accessibility Champion, whose commitment and thoughtfulness continue to make an outstanding impact in this space."
Manuela found that the congress has benefited APM beyond just her individual session, including in terms of peer relationships, profile and ideas that will directly influence the team’s future work.
