Association for Project Management (APM) has welcomed Joanna Quirk to its Board of Trustees.

Joanna brings over 20 years of experience across finance, people, technology and organisational transformation within social purpose, membership based and charitable organisations.

Joanna QuirkJoanna currently leads operations at the Building Societies Association, where she leads core enablement functions including finance, digital, data and technology, human resources and operational efficiency. She was previously Chief Operating Officer at the Chartered Institute of Building. She is also a Trustee and Chair of the Resources Committee at the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Welcoming Joanna, APM Board Chair, Amy Morley said: “I’m very pleased to welcome Joanna as our newest Trustee. Her exceptional experience working with charities, not-for-profit and social purpose organisations will be of great benefit to APM and our members. I very much look forward to working with her.”

Commenting on her appointment, Joanna said: “I’m most looking forward to supporting APM’s continued growth and impact as the leading professional body for the project profession…I am also excited about the opportunity to act as an ambassador for APM’s purpose and values, and to work collaboratively with the team and fellow Trustees to help APM continue to lead and evolve in a changing environment.”

When asked about the challenges affecting projects and the people who deliver them, Joanna said:

“From sponsoring and leading major transformation initiatives, I’ve seen common challenges such as maintaining clear governance and accountability, ensuring reliable reporting and aligning projects tightly to organisational strategy; particularly during periods of competing priorities and limited capacity. There are also practical challenges around consistent standards, building capability, and sustaining engagement across stakeholders.

“APM can continue to support the profession by strengthening good practice, promoting robust delivery disciplines, sharing learning and insight, and helping organisations develop the skills, confidence and frameworks needed to deliver change well and realise benefits.”

The APM Board may appoint up to five trustees, in addition to its elected members to provide additional expertise to its function. You can find out more about the APM Board of Trustees here.
