APM has updated the names of its qualification suite: Introductory Certificate: The APM Project Fundamentals Qualification is now called APM Project Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ). 

The new names will provide candidates and employers with a coherent progressive career path, from the ‘fundamentals’ through to ‘management’ and ‘professional’ levels of understanding. The core value of our qualifications: the assessment criteria, learning outcomes and training models will stay the same. You can find out more about the changes to the names and what it means in this press release.

What is the APM Project Fundamentals Qualification?

The Project Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ) - (SCQF Level 6), developed by APM, the chartered body for the project profession, offers a fundamental awareness of project management terminology.

Who is this qualification for?

It is for those wishing to gain a broad understanding of the principles of the profession. 

No prior knowledge or experience is required for this qualification, which will offer the individual the knowledge to make a positive contribution to any project.

The APM Project Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ), formerly known as Introductory Certificate (IC), syllabus assesses the key elements of the project management life cycle and covers knowledge areas from the APM Body of Knowledge, including planning and scheduling, communication, teamwork, resource management, project risk management and project reviews.

Assessment is through a 60-question, multiple choice examination, taken over 1 hour. 

The examination is available online either in a classroom with your accredited provider or on your own premises utilising our remote live proctor. You can book your examination at a time to suit you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 360 days a year.

How can I study for this qualification?

You can study through our Accredited Providers who offer the APM Project Fundamentals Qualification in many different formats including classroom, e-learning, distance learning, public and in-house courses. 

A number offer the exam online, allowing you to take it anywhere at any time through live online proctoring.
