APM’s first ever two-day flagship conference is just two weeks away and we can’t wait to welcome you to Coventry. We’ve been reflecting on the wealth of content in store for delegates — there’s so much great stuff to choose from!

The conference will take place on 5 and 6 June at the CBS Arena, Coventry. Here’s our pick of some of the highlights to look forward to:

1. Oxford style debate: Use of data and AI will hinder more than help project outcomes.

Thursday 6 June 14:00 — 15:00 | Tackle Big Topics Stream

This new format for the APM conference is set to be a lively discussion, with active audience participation encouraged. Delegates will get the chance to put their questions to each debater and then vote on who they agree with more. The results are sure to be interesting.

2. The Digital Toolkit with Nicola Benjamin, Arup

Thursday 6 June 11:40 — 12:25 | Build Your Toolkit stream

If you fancy something more technical, we have just the thing. AI authority Nicola will provide insight of the current landscape of AI as a disrupter, a breakdown of current and future AI tools for project professionals and give examples of how these can be integrated into working practice. A must-attend for anyone interested in expanding their AI knowledge.

3. APM’s new Project Management Qualification explained

Wednesday 5 June 10:30 — 11:00 and Thursday 6 June 10:15 – 10:45 | Discovery Zone

Did you know the APM Project Management Qualification is changing? We’ve put on these two drop-in sessions so you can find out everything you need to know about the updated qualification including new and notable content areas, method of assessment and entry requirements.

4. Why PM Skills Matter with Daniel Amanios, Chair of Programme Management, Saïd Business School

Wednesday 5 June 11:15 — 12:00 | Tackle Big Topics stream

Touching on APM’s recent Golden Thread Research, Daniel will provide the latest insight into the biggest skills challenges facing the project profession today and contemplate the root causes to provide an informed position from which to tackle these challenges. A must for all project leaders.

5. Will your EQ replace AI? with Eddie Obeng, Educator, Innovator and Digital Pioneer

Wednesday 6 June 13:30 — 14:15 | Build Your Toolkit stream

Big personality Eddie Obeng will be sure to inject energy into this interactive session, designed to unpack the areas of emotional intelligence most used by project managers, and ask about the importance of EQ in a digital future. Eddie will also be signing copies of his new book All Change! The Project Leader’s Secret Handbook, so be sure to take advantage of this additional chance to tap into his knowledge.

6. Leading through uncertainty with Emma Burrows, PA Consulting

Thursday 6 June 10:45 — 11:30 | Build Your Toolkit stream

In this session sponsored by PA Consulting, experienced project management consultant Emma will take a deep dive into the biggest future concerns amongst project professionals today and provide insight into practical tools that can be used to steer projects — and teams — through uncertain times. Interactive participation and real-world scenario planning can be expected!

7. Education and Research Awards with introduction from Christine Unterhitzenberger

Wednesday 5 June 15:40 — 16:40 | Main Plenary

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to learn about the best research, new talent, developmental programmes and educators in the project profession over the last year. It’s the first time these awards have taken place in person, and we’re really excited to give delegates the chance to meet and chat to the finalists and winners face to face. Put it in the diary to show your support.

9. Data and people skills: Where's the value in people? Discussing the balance between analytics and people skills in project decisions with Laura Ellis, BBC

Thursday 6 June 15:05 — 15:55 | Tackle Big Topics stream

With an increased emphasis on the importance of data in decision making, where does this leave traditional PM skills like stakeholder management? Head of Technology Forecasting for the BBC Laura Ellis will consider some of the ways use of technology could impact the way we work now and in the future, including evaluating what project management may look like for future generations. Come along to soak up Laura’s informed perspectives on this dynamic topic.
