Thank you, reflections and committee election 2020-2021 overview from incumbent chair, Milla Mazilu

The APM Planning, Monitoring and Control SIG recently concluded its new committee election process, and I am pleased to announce that Edi Hayward, Ewan Glen and Keith Haward were re-elected alongside me. We also welcome two new members to the committee, Jay Armstrong and Scot Butcher; both have been volunteering with the committee for some time now and I am pleased to have their support as formal committee members.

This year, we have two departing committee members, Richard Dealhoy and Steve Wake, who chose not to stand on this occasion. We are disappointed to lose their involvement in the committee, but we hope that both can continue their volunteering work with us, as time permits. Steve, in particular, has been a significant and visible member of the SIG for many years, having served as both Secretary and Chair in the past. The committee and I would like to extend our thanks for his positive contributions during that time.

The new committee held its first meeting in July, to establish our formal committee roles. You will have noticed that Edi, Keith, and Ewan have each been taking a greater part in the running of the SIG over the past few months, as part of my chair’s succession plan. I am thrilled to announce that Edi and Keith have accepted to co-chair the committee, and that Ewan Glen has accepted the secretariat role. They have brought great energy, impetus and good humour to the group, and I am looking forward to serving alongside them on the committee from September onwards.

I have thoroughly enjoyed situation of our lives, I hope the SIG can continue to be a beacon of knowledge and development for project professionals. It is now, more than ever, important for us to broaden our reach and be inclusive, and to develop and share our knowledge and ideas widely, so that projects can deliver meaningful change.
